Quick answers

Questions people actually ask

The short version of the questions people usually need answered before they begin.

Is BuzzChat free?

Yes. Chatting, World Mode, Hives and posts are free to use.

Do I need an account?

Not to start chatting. An account is what makes friends, DMs, posts and progress persist across devices.

Is there video chat?

No. BuzzChat is text-first and has no video calling, and that is deliberate rather than unfinished. Photos and short clips can be attached to messages and posts, but there is no way to put anyone on live camera.

Am I really anonymous?

Anonymous to other users: they see a nickname and nothing behind it. Not anonymous to the platform, which must be able to investigate reports. Messages are not end-to-end encrypted.

How do I report someone?

Report from the chat, post or profile. Reports are reviewed and can lead to content removal, restrictions or bans at the account level.

What is World Mode?

A live pixel map you can walk around, see who else is online, and start a conversation with anyone who says hi back.

What is a Hive?

An interest-based community with its own posts, live chat, members, roles, rules and moderation.

How do points and levels work?

Points come from participation: messages, posts, comments, reactions and games, each capped daily. Levels are points thresholds from New Spark to Anonymous Icon.

Can I use BuzzChat on my phone?

Yes. It is built mobile-first, including World Mode.

How do I recover my account?

If you added an email when claiming your account, recovery goes through it. Without one, progress stays on the device.
