How friendship works

Send a request
After a conversation worth continuing. Requests can simply be ignored.

They accept, or they do not
Friendship is mutual. Nobody is added to your list without agreeing, and nobody gains access to you by persistence.

The thread becomes a DM
It persists across sessions and devices once your account is claimed, and picks up where it stopped.

Block if you need to
Blocking ends contact. It does not require a justification and does not notify the other person with an explanation.
Why claiming an account is worth it
An unclaimed session works fine until the device changes. Then the friends, the DM history, the points, the level and the streak are gone, because there was nothing durable holding them.
Claiming an account attaches that history to something recoverable. It does not make you public and it does not require your real name. An email address exists solely so the account can be recovered. It is the one piece of information worth giving up, and only because losing two months of conversations to a cleared browser is genuinely irritating.

Keep this in mind
Non-friend DMs are a setting you control
Friend requests need your acceptance before someone joins your list. Separately, vibe match can let one non-friend open a thread when your reputations overlap strongly. That path defaults on but lives in reputation settings: turn off non-friend messages if you want friends-only contact. Blocking works either way, and nothing about your nickname or avatar changes.

Is my profile visible on the web?
No. Profiles exist inside BuzzChat for other users. There is no public, search-indexed profile page.
Can anyone DM me?
By default, only friends, and a friendship needs your acceptance. There is one narrow exception: a vibe match, where someone whose reputation strongly overlaps yours can open one thread. If you would rather only ever hear from friends, turn off non-friend messages in your reputation settings.
What happens when I block someone?
They can no longer contact you. Blocking is available from chats, profiles and Hives.
Do I lose my progress if I clear my browser?
If the account is unclaimed, yes. Claiming one with an email address is what makes progress recoverable.
Does claiming an account change what people see on my profile?
No. Other users still see your nickname, avatar, vibe, and any flag you chose to show. Claiming only makes that identity recoverable across devices; it does not publish you anywhere.
Can I keep a private profile without giving my real name?
Yes. A claimed account needs an email for recovery, not a legal name or a public page. Your real identity stays yours unless you choose to share it in conversation.
