Random text chat with strangers, in seconds

Choose Instant Match for speed or Smart Match for shared preferences. Start typing, leave when it is not working, or send a friend request when the conversation is worth keeping.

  • Instant match
  • Rematch anytime
  • Text and images
  • Free

Typically under five seconds to a live conversation.

Step by step

The matching loop

Four steps, and you can bail out of any of them.

  1. 01

    Press start

No form, no profile completion gate. A nickname is enough to enter the queue.

  2. 02

    Get paired

You are matched with someone else who is waiting right now. Instant Match ignores filters for speed; Smart Match applies your preferences.

  3. 03

    Talk, or do not

Send text and images. There is no minimum time, no penalty for a conversation that goes nowhere.

  4. 04

    Rematch or keep

Rematch drops you back in the queue. If the conversation was good, send a friend request and keep the thread as a DM.

Side-by-side

Instant Match or Smart Match

Both are random text chat. The difference is how much of your preferences the queue respects before it pairs you.

What it gives you

What random text chat on BuzzChat actually includes

Not a video roulette with the camera disabled. A text-first match with the tools you need to leave, rematch, or keep going.

  • 01

    Text first, photos optional

No video calls and nobody can put you on camera. You can attach a photo if you choose to; it is never required.

  • 02

    Rematch without a lecture

Skip when it is flat. There is no minimum chat length and no score for sticking around out of politeness.

  • 03

    Keep the rare good one

Send a mutual friend request and continue in DMs when a conversation is worth more than one session.

  • 04

    Controls that stay yours

Pick Instant or Smart, set a rematch cooldown that fits your pace, and block or report without leaving the flow.

Why text makes random chat easier

Text gives both people a moment to think before replying. That small pause makes it easier to ask a better question, recover from an awkward line, and decide whether the conversation is worth continuing.

It also keeps the exit simple. You can leave without explaining yourself, rematch without a penalty, and try again. That matters on a service where most pairings will be brief and only a few will turn into something memorable.

When pure randomness feels too broad, Smart Match applies your preferences before pairing. When waiting feels worse than rematching, Instant Match takes the next available person.

Keep this in mind

A good rematch habit beats a long bad chat

If the other person pushes for personal details, another app, or anything that feels off, leave, block, and report. Rematch exists so you do not have to negotiate your way out of a conversation that already failed.

Quick answers

Questions people actually ask

The short version of the questions people usually need answered before they begin.

Is random text chat free?

Yes. Matching, chatting and rematching are free, with no message limit.

Do I need to sign up?

Not to start. An account only matters once you want friends, saved conversations and progress to persist across devices.

Can I choose who I get matched with?

To a degree. Smart Match applies your preferences before pairing. Instant Match ignores them in exchange for speed. Neither guarantees a specific kind of person, and that is not something any honest service can promise.

Is this video chat with the camera off?

No. BuzzChat has no video calls. Random matching here is text-first. Photos can be sent in a chat if both people want that, but live camera is not part of the product.

What if someone is abusive?

Leave the chat, then block and report. Reports are reviewed, and severe violations carry account-level consequences rather than nickname-level ones.

How is this different from World Mode or Hives?

Random text chat is the queue: you get paired with whoever is waiting. World Mode is the map hub you land on: walk before you talk, or start Instant or Smart Match with the map as a backdrop. Hives are interest communities you join on purpose. Most people use more than one.
