A plain-language account of the data behind anonymous chat, profiles, matching, safety, analytics and account deletion.

  • No real name required
  • No precise location
  • Delete in the app

You can request deletion in the app, or by email if you cannot sign in.

Plain-language summary

The important part first

01

BuzzChat can be used with a generated identity. You do not have to provide a real name, phone number or profile photograph. A Google account or email address is optional and is used when you choose to claim and recover an account.

02

Chats, posts, comments and uploaded media pass through BuzzChat systems. They are not end-to-end encrypted. Automated safety systems and authorised moderators may process content to detect abuse, investigate reports and enforce the rules.

03

BuzzChat does not request precise device location. The service stores an IP address and may infer an approximate country from it for security, matching and aggregate service insights.

04

The Android app currently does not load BuzzChat web-ad placements. The browser version may show Google AdSense advertising and is also covered by this policy.

Delete your BuzzChat account and associated data

01

In the Android or web app, open Profile, then Account, then Delete account. Or follow the dedicated account deletion page. This immediately removes access, hides the public profile, hides the user's posts and videos, and removes the Firebase authentication account. The same email or Google identity can then be used again.

02

If you cannot access the app, email [email protected] with the subject "BuzzChat account deletion request". Include the nickname or username, the email used to claim the account if any, and enough information to verify that the account belongs to you. You do not need to reinstall or open the app to make this request.

03

An account deletion request covers the account and data associated with it. BuzzChat may retain limited information only when reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, abuse investigations, legal compliance or resolving disputes. This can include relevant messages or media, reports, moderation decisions, account identifiers and audit events. Retained information is restricted from normal product use and is not used to restore the deleted public account.

04

You can also ask to delete specific content without deleting the whole account, or request access to, correction of, or a copy of account data. Support will explain any data that cannot be deleted and the reason it must be retained.

How the data is used

01

BuzzChat uses data to create and secure an anonymous or claimed account, deliver messages and media, operate profiles, Hives, posts, friends, matching, World Mode, notifications and progress features.

02

Data is also used to prevent spam and fraud, moderate content, investigate reports, enforce restrictions, protect users, maintain service integrity and comply with lawful requests.

03

Firebase Analytics events and web performance measurements help understand feature use, reliability and loading performance. BuzzChat does not use private message text to build advertising profiles.

04

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, processing is based on providing the service you request, BuzzChat's legitimate interests in safety and reliable operation, your consent for optional features, or a legal obligation.

What it gives you

Who receives data

BuzzChat limits access to what is needed for the feature, safety task or service being provided.

  • 01

    Google and Firebase

Firebase provides authentication, App Check, Analytics and Cloud Messaging. reCAPTCHA Enterprise helps verify genuine app traffic. The web service may also use Google AdSense.

  • 02

    Media infrastructure

Bunny.net stores and delivers uploaded media, including images, videos and voice notes. Hosting and database providers process service data on BuzzChat's behalf.

  • 03

    Safety processing

OpenAI services may process text or media submitted for automated moderation. Authorised BuzzChat moderators may review reported or flagged material.

  • 04

    Other BuzzChat users

People receive content you intentionally publish or send to them. Public profile fields, posts and activity are visible according to your settings and the feature used.

Plain-language summary

What other people can see

01

Depending on the feature and your settings, other users may see a nickname, username, avatar, bio, country flag, interests, online status, level, vibe reputation, posts, comments, reactions, Hive membership and World Mode presence.

02

Private chat content is delivered to its participants. It may also be available to authorised moderation staff when reported, flagged by safety systems or needed to investigate abuse.

03

Do not share information in a profile, post or conversation that you do not want another person to receive. A private identity reduces public exposure, but it does not make a message unreadable to its recipient or to BuzzChat safety systems.

Retention and deletion

Retention depends on the feature, whether an account is active, and whether information is needed for safety or a legal obligation.

DataTypical retentionWhat happens
Hive live chatAbout 3 days.Older Hive live-chat messages are removed by a daily cleanup.
Activity bucketsAbout 65 days.Coarse five-minute activity records are pruned after the retention window.
Realtime delivery logAbout 30 days. The delivery replay log is temporary. The underlying message or social record may remain separately.
Account and published contentWhile the account is active, then according to deletion and safety needs.Account deletion hides the profile and stops showing the user's posts and videos immediately.
Reports and safety recordsAs long as reasonably needed for safety, fraud prevention, disputes or law.Relevant content, media, account identifiers and moderation history may be retained after deletion.
Provider backups and logsUntil they roll off under operational and provider schedules.Residual copies are protected and are not restored to normal product use.

When no fixed period is stated, BuzzChat uses the purpose, report status, account status, legal requirements and security risk to decide when data is no longer needed.

What it gives you

Your controls

  • 01

    Stay with a guest identity

Use BuzzChat without adding an email or Google identity. A generated service ID is still required for the app to function.

  • 02

    Control optional profile data

Choose profile and matching fields, online visibility, non-friend messages and whether sensitive demographics may be used in aggregate insights.

  • 03

    Choose notifications

Android push permission is optional and can be changed in device settings. BuzzChat removes the known device token when you sign out.

  • 04

    Use your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or portability through support.
